Press the key shown on each apple and feed the snake.

Apple Snake Typing is a typing game with a snake and a field full of apples. Each apple has a letter on it. Find that letter on your keyboard and press it. The snake slides over to the apple, eats it, and grows one segment longer.

Eat the Apples

  • Press the key that matches the letter on the apple.
  • Capital and small letters both work, so you do not need the Shift key.
  • Each apple has a countdown timer. If time runs out, the apple spoils.
  • An apple also spoils after three wrong key presses while it waits.
  • You lose one life for each spoiled apple. The game ends after five lives are gone.
  • As the snake gets longer, apples spoil faster and more of them show up.

The Game Screen

The snake lives on a grassy field with a fence around it. Trees, clouds, and the sun are in the background. The letters on the apples are white with a dark red outline, so they are easy to read.

Try This

  • Read the letter on the apple before you look for the key.
  • Press the key once, then check the screen. Pressing many keys quickly can use up your three tries.
  • Watch the timers and go for the apple that is about to spoil first.
  • Look at your results after each round. Try to beat your best snake length and raise your accuracy.

Teacher Notes

This section covers what to know before using Apple Snake Typing in class.

Grade level: Kids (K-2)

Before starting: No typing experience is needed. Show students where the letters are on the keyboard first.

What you need: A computer with a keyboard.

Skills practiced: Letter recognition, finding keys, typing accuracy, and reacting within a time limit.

In class: At the start, focus on accuracy rather than score. Once students know the keyboard layout, they can play on their own and check their own results.

Ready to Start?

Take your time with the first few apples. Speed comes later, once the keys feel familiar.
