Find the missing letter and finish each word in 60s
Missing Letter is a quick spelling game in which every word has one letter knocked out. Look at what’s left, work out the word, and tap the right letter from four choices. Most of the words are everyday nouns, between 5 and 8 letters long, so nothing here is obscure. You never have to unscramble anything, only fill a single gap.
A round lasts one minute. Each correct answer adds a point, and a wrong one resets your streak. When the clock runs out, you’ll see your score and your personal best.
How to play Missing Letter
Look at the word with the blank in it and think about what it could be.
- Tap one of the four letters.
- If you got it right, the next word appears straight away. Keep going until time is up.
- Check your score and try to beat it next round.
What it helps with
Recognizing letters and noticing which one is missing.
- Remembering how common words are spelled.
- Reading words quickly.
- Staying focused under a bit of time pressure.
A few tips
Read the whole word first. The letters on both sides of the gap usually give it away.
- Watch for letter pairs. TH, CH, SH, PH and QU show up constantly, so the gap often sits inside one of them.
- Don’t get stuck. If a word has you stumped, guess and move on. One tough word isn’t worth losing several easy ones.
Final thoughts
Because a round is so short, Missing Letter fits easily into a classroom warm-up or a few spare minutes at home. It suits younger learners, roughly 2nd and 3rd graders, who are still getting comfortable with spelling common words. Give it a go and see how many words you can finish in 60 seconds.
